I am very proud to be able to share that the second edition of Pro SQL Server Wait Statistics has been officially released! It is available for download as an E-book on the Apress website (//www.apress.com/gp/book/9781484249154) and will be available on all other popular book selling websites in the coming days. The paperback release will also arrive shortly if you prefer the analog way of reading.
It was a great experience to have the chance to add new content to the book and to make sure it stays updated and current with all the new technologies that have been introduced in SQL Server in the last 4 years. I added more than 60 pages of new content in this second edition including new important wait types, a full chapter covering the Query Store and new methods to analyze your wait statistics per query or session.
I am very happy with the second edition and I believe it is a very helpful companion when you are dealing with performance analysis on SQL Server, or simply want to learn more about how SQL Server manages and accesses its resources.
Through this post I also want to express a big thanks to Eelco Drost and Borbala Toth-Apathy who were the technical reviewers for this edition. Jonathan Gennick (Apress) for inviting me to write a second edition and Jill Balzano (Apress) who was willing to be the editor yet again.
I hope everyone who reads the book considers it helpful and if you run into any questions while reading, or want to know more about wait statistics in general, feel free to contact me!
