Upcoming speaking engagements

While the summer period usually means there are only a few data events happening around the world, the first “after summer” conferences have started to share their agendas. That means I can now officially announce where you can find me next, starting with a conference where I’ll attempt to deploy a full open-source data platform live on stage, from nothing to production-ready, in under an hour. That’s just the first of a few stops this season, so let’s run through where you can catch me.

Data Saturday Oslo | August 29th | Oslo, Norway

Now that the schedule is available on the website of Data Saturday Oslo it is a good time to announce I will be speaking there as well!

I will be presenting a session about what it means to break free of the modern Big Tech data platforms and take back control of your own data platform. And while there are definitely some trade-offs involved (which we of course will discuss) I think building your own sovereign data platform based on open-source technologies is easier than ever. And instead of only talking about it, I plan to have a full-blown open-source data platform deployed that rivals the capabilities of the Big Tech platforms before the 60 minutes of the session are over!

I believe that - at the time of writing this blog post - there are still some tickets available. So if you live Norway, can make the trip to Oslo and are a data professional this event is definitely well worth your free saturday!

Data Saturday Holland | October 9th & 10th | Utrecht, The Netherlands

It’s always nice to be able to speak in your home country and Data Saturday Holland is the premier data conference in The Netherlands!

One of the reasons this event is so popular - besides all the awesome sessions by speakers all over the world - is that it takes place in an actual cinema. Complete with those cosy seats and a huge screen. That’s a conference with style!

I will be giving the open-source, sovereign, data platform session here as well.

Dataminds Connect 2026 | October 12th, 13th & 14th | Mechelen, Belgium

Dataminds Connect is definitely one of my favorite conferences in the world! Not only does it bring together some of the best speakers around, it also has a huge emphasis on giving new speakers a podium. This is not only great to grow the community of data speakers, but also to meet new people who are passionate about their fields. Way to go Dataminds! 🎉
